I know how much Bert loved this place... well, they closed in January to remodel and be a different resturaunt owned by the same company... but here's the thing that blew my mind (from their website):

To thank guests and to celebrate the restaurant’s long history in San Diego, the restaurant donated 10-percent of its proceeds during its final week of operating as The Old Spaghetti Factory, Dec. 26 – Jan. 2. Proceeds benefited the Children’s Hospital and Health Center of San Diego. The donation totaled more than $12,000.

That means that fucking place was taking in $120,000 PER FUCKING WEEK! What the FUCK?

i'm suprised they don't take in more, unless you are talking about proceeds after costs.

How to be a Jew but still eat well at The Old Spaghetti Factory:

Clearly, the best meal on the menu is the Manager's Favorite, two types of spaghetti sauces on one plate, I like to get the Mizithra and Meat Sauce.

If you're sort of hungry, instead of getting the Hearty Meal Portion, which I would say only increases the size of the plate by 50%, eat the whole plate and ask them for the little known "second plate". This costs $1.

If you're really hungry, get the Hearty Meal Portion, eat it, and then get the second plate too. If you can't finish it you can take it home and eat it for lunch or something.

Always get coffee or tea during dinner, because it's free, but not lunch, because it's not. Spumoni clearly is better than Vanilla, and the salads are somewhat hospital-like, but the soup truly is terrible.

Enjoy! (or not, apparently, if you're in San Diego)

I was at the one in Hollywood on Sunset not too long ago. Very nice place on the inside for how it looks on the outside.

I like good spaghetti. But what makes spaghetti good isn't the spaghetti anyway. It's the sauce.
